MouseRecord Window

The `MouseRecord' window, accessible via the file menu, makes it easy for one person to perform a 3D ultrasound scan without having to fiddle with Stradx's recording controls. The idea is that all the necessary functions are obtained by pressing one of the three mouse buttons. The mouse can be held in one hand while the ultrasound probe is held in the other.

Before opening the `MouseRecord' window, you must prepare to scan in the usual way: don't forget to open a file in which to store the ultrasound data. When you open the `MouseRecord' window, you will see the following message:

In this example, the selected file name was tmp.sx. If you now click in the `MouseRecord' window, the mouse pointer will get locked inside this window and you will see the following message:

Stradx is now in `Paused Record' mode, as if you had pressed the `Pause' and `Record' buttons in the main window. To release `Pause' and start recording, press the left mouse button. So that you can see what's happening from a distance, the window turns red when `Pause' is released and Stradx is recording:

Pressing the left mouse button again stops recording and takes you back to the green window. At this point, you can either acquire more frames by pressing the left mouse button, delete the data by pressing the middle mouse button, or save the data by pressing the right mouse button. While saving, the window turns yellow:

After saving, the `MouseRecord' window opens a new file with an automatically generated file name, and goes back into `Paused Record' mode, ready to start recording again. This allows you to make a series of recordings without having to return to the computer keyboard. The new file name is the same as the original one with an extra suffix indicating which number in the sequence this is. For example, for an initial file name tmp.sx, the next file in the recording sequence will be named tmp_n2.sx:

Subsequent file names will be tmp_n3.sx, tmp_n4.sx, etc. When you have finished with the `MouseRecord' window, return to the computer keyboard and press any key on the keyboard. This closes the `MouseRecord' window and transfers control back to Stradx's main window.

The MouseRecord window behaves slightly differently with the `single' video frame rate. In this case, when you release the `Pause', the window flashes red briefly as it acquires one frame, then automatically goes back into `Paused Record' mode. You can then record another frame by pressing the left mouse button.
